Time Studio

Time Studio is a time-based media class that deals with art-making processes like film, sound, video, performance art, etc. I call it "technology class." We make things like photo sequences, flash animations, videos, performance art, and blogs.

I have learned the most new information in this class. I often call myself 'remedial' when it comes to the latest technology or computer-related endeavors. At least, I'm remedial compared with most of my fellow students (but I still know people who don't know how to e-mail). I didn't have a computer or internet for the five years I traveled the country before I came back to school, so technology eludes me, for the most part.

That's why this class has taught me the most. It's definitely forced me out of my comfort zone regarding technology. And unlike Surface Research, my professor critiques fair but firm. I've never felt unmotivated to make art for her class, and have had a few moments of inspiration.

The picture is of my boyfriend biting into a lemon for me! I took over 200 photos of him for my Time Studio flash project.

My favorite project I made for Time Studio was, by far, the Jack and Jill movie. Can you believe the set cost me $72 to build?!! It really doesn't look like it, where'd the money go, ha ha ha! But I was really pleased with the end result and will definitely use it in my portfolio. I have to admit that sometimes I pop the DVD in my laptop and watch it just for fun.

hahahah. i do the same thing. i get my friends to check it out and i end up checking it out sitting there thinking, "man if i could redo this same idea i would do this, this and this." kinda funny. as far as the teacher recommendation, I couldn’t really say one over the other. most people say the they love there teacher as well. i would definitely recommend mine (Tim DeVoe - http://www.pubinfo.vcu.edu/artweb/sculpture/portfolio.asp?galNameID=110) but he is leaving afo to actually teach a studio class in the sculpture department. sorry

i was so impressed with your commitment and hard work in this class. you are one of the many people in this class that made me really reevaluate what it is that i wanna do with my life. it was one of the most inspiring things to watch you make all your projects and i was especially in awe at how you developed your own style. keep it up!

Wow! That was super-nice and flattering. I've felt the way you're feeling before in my life. Not sure of what I wanted...I'm almost 23 and just now figuring it out. Sometimes it takes a while to know what you want and that's okay. I feel lucky to know now, some people never know.

Wow, I woul never spend $72 on a project unless it was already done for me. I've always said you put your heart and sou into everything you do. I'm glad it's paying off so far, at least with the class up at the top that you mention. And I anticipate it working out for you other classes too.

I didn't 'make' him do it- he wanted to and volunteered. I would never be that mean to such a nice man.
